What is Oregon's State Flower?
Oregon State Flower Oregon - Grape (Berberis
aquifolium)
In 1890 a group of people gathered together
to form the Oregon Horticulture Society in order
to nominate a state flower to legislature. Nevertheless,
a consensus was never made. The Oregon Horticulture
Society re-formed again in 1891. Yet again, a
consensus was never reached. Two years later the
Oregon Grape was finally chosen and believed to
be worthy, and so the legislature was petitioned.
In 1899 the Oregon Grape was selected and made
official as the state flower of Oregon.
