State Flowers
What is Nevada's State Flower?
Nevada State Flower - Sagebrush (Artemisia
tridentata)
The Sagebrush was originally adopted by the state
of Nevada not as the state flower but as the state
emblem in 1917. The sage brush was not named the
official state flower until 1967. The Sagebrush
can be found in the form of a small shrub or tree.
It flowers yellow blooms and has a pungent fragrance
similar to sage despite them not being related.
The plant is toxic and can cause dermatitis when
applied to the skin and also can cause both internal
blood clotting and liver problems when taken internally.
