Kansas State Flower - Sunflower (Helianthus
annuus)
In the early fall, the roadsides of Kansas are
littered with sunflowers. Neraly 3,000 years ago
the Native Americans in the area domesticated
the flower. Sunflowers have recently been put
into the spotlight for being an alternative energy
source; a sunflower is capable of being an alternative
