State Flowers
What is Alabama's State Flower?
Alabama State Flower - Camelia (Camellia japonica)
In 1927 the Goldenrod was adopted as the official
state flower of Alabama. Nevertheless, the women
of Alabama found the flower to seem unworthy of
being the state flower, after all it was considered
a weed to many gardeners. So, in 1959 the Goldenrod
was replaced by the Chinese native flower the
"Camelia".
