Tips for Garden Weddings

Tips Garden Weddings Hero

A garden setting brings natural beauty to a wedding that's hard to match indoors, but a few practical considerations make the difference between a magical day and a stressful one.

Timing Around Bloom

Checking what will actually be in bloom on the wedding date, rather than assuming a garden looks the same year-round, avoids disappointment — a garden stunning in June can look quite different in September. Visiting the venue at the same time of year as the planned wedding date gives the most accurate preview.

Always have a backup plan for weather, since an outdoor garden ceremony is inherently more exposed to rain or heat than an indoor venue.

QUICK TIP

Guests are often less comfortable standing for a long outdoor ceremony in direct sun or heat — providing shade, seating, and water goes a long way toward guest comfort.

Working With the Setting, Not Against It

A garden's existing natural beauty often means less needs to be added in decor — letting the setting itself be the backdrop rather than layering on excessive additional florals and structure.
