Spathiphyllum, better known as peace lily, is one of the most forgiving flowering houseplants around, sending up elegant white blooms even in the low-light corners where most plants refuse to flower.
Native to the tropical rainforests of the Americas and Southeast Asia, peace lily has become a fixture of offices and homes alike, popular for its glossy foliage and reliable, understated blooms as much as for the way it dramatically droops when it needs water.

Peace lily is toxic if ingested, causing mouth and throat irritation in pets and people, so it should be kept out of reach despite its popularity as a low-maintenance houseplant.
