Oklahoma's State Flower: Oklahoma Rose
The Oklahoma Rose (Rosa odorata) became the state's official flower in 2004, making Oklahoma one of the more recent states to formalize a floral emblem.
Not Oklahoma's First Floral Symbol
Oklahoma actually had a floral emblem long before the rose — mistletoe, adopted back in 1893. But gardeners lobbied for years for a symbol they could actually plant and grow, and in 2004 the state settled on the Oklahoma Rose — somewhat ironically, given that the variety isn't originally native to Oklahoma at all.

Mistletoe remains Oklahoma's official floral emblem alongside the rose — a rare case of a state recognizing two distinct floral symbols.
