A citronella-and-witch-hazel spray you can apply to skin or clothing, using scents mosquitoes actively avoid.

1/2 cup witch hazel
1/2 cup water
20 drops citronella essential oil

Combine the witch hazel and water in a spray bottle.

Add the citronella oil and shake well to combine.

Shake before each use and mist onto skin, clothing, or around patio seating areas.
Caution: Patch-test on a small area of skin first, and keep out of eyes — essential oils can irritate sensitive skin.
