INSECT CONTROL RECIPE

Gnats

An apple cider vinegar trap draws fungus gnats and fruit flies in with a sweet scent, then traps them with a drop of dish soap that breaks the surface tension.

Gnats
Prep: 5 minutes
Yields: 1 trap
Organic-friendly

Ingredients

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 drop mild liquid dish soap
Small jar or cup
Plastic wrap and a toothpick (optional)

Instructions

1

Pour the apple cider vinegar into a small jar or cup.

2

Add a single drop of dish soap without stirring.

3

Optionally cover with plastic wrap poked with a few small holes to funnel gnats in.

4

Set the trap near the affected area and empty and refresh every few days.

Tip: For fungus gnats in houseplants, also let the soil dry out more between waterings — overly damp soil is what attracts them in the first place.
