INSECT CONTROL RECIPE
Garlic Oil Garden Spray
Steeping garlic in oil first, rather than water, pulls out a more concentrated dose of its natural sulfur compounds for a longer-lasting repellent.
Prep: 15 min + 2 day steep
Yields: about 1 quart
Organic-friendly
Ingredients
3 bulbs garlic, cloves separated and peeled
2 cups vegetable oil
1 quart water
1 tablespoon mild liquid dish soap
Instructions
1
Crush or finely chop the garlic cloves and place them in a jar with the vegetable oil.
2
Cover and let steep in a cool, dark place for 2 days, shaking occasionally.
3
Strain out the garlic, keeping the infused oil as your concentrate.
4
To use, mix 2 tablespoons of the oil concentrate with a quart of water and the dish soap.
5
Spray affected plants thoroughly, coating both sides of the leaves.
Tip: Store any unused concentrate in the refrigerator and dilute a fresh batch each time you spray, rather than mixing a large amount at once.
