Asian Beetles
A light-trap trick pulls Asian lady beetles away from windows and siding before they find their way indoors for the winter.

Ingredients
Desk lamp or clip light
Shallow pan
Water
A few drops of dish soap
Instructions

Fill the shallow pan with water and add a few drops of dish soap to break the surface tension.

Set the pan beneath a lit lamp in a darkened room in the evening, when beetles are most active.

Beetles drawn to the light will fall into the pan and be unable to climb back out.

Empty and refresh the pan each morning during peak fall swarming season.
Tip: Seal cracks around windows and doors first — the trap helps with beetles already inside, but prevention keeps new ones from getting in.
